How these are generated
Random lines use PHP's random_int(), a cryptographically secure generator, across the full range: 5 numbers from 1–69 plus a Powerball from 1–26. Lines leaning hot or cold take their first numbers from the 12 hottest or 12 coldest white balls in the last 50 drawings (the mix uses both) and fill the rest at random. The Powerball is always picked at random. The current statistics and our methodology have the details.
No generator changes your odds. Every line has the same 1 in 292,201,338 chance at the jackpot, and the weighted lines are just for fun.
Do quick picks win more often than chosen numbers?
No. When quick picks account for more jackpot wins, it's because more tickets are sold that way, not because random numbers have an edge. Random lines can help in one narrow way. Many players pick birthdays and other dates, which crowd into 1 to 31, so a popular self-picked combination is more likely to be shared if it wins. A random line is less likely to be duplicated, which affects only how a jackpot would be split. There's more in quick picks vs picking your own numbers and why birthday and horoscope numbers don't help.
