Where Are Virginia Lottery Results Posted? The Fastest Ways to Check

Where does the Virginia Lottery post winning numbers?

The official sources are the Lottery's own:

  • valottery.com, which has the latest numbers and past results for every Virginia Lottery game. This is the record to rely on.
  • The Virginia Lottery app, which shows the same results and can check your tickets.
  • Lottery retailers and vending machines. A retailer can scan your ticket to see if it won, and the Lottery lists vending machines as a place to check numbers.

The Virginia Lottery's CASH POP page, for example, lists those channels (vending machines, valottery.com, the app and the past-numbers section of the site) as the ways to check that game's results.

Where else can you check Virginia lottery numbers?

Our Virginia lottery results page covers most of the state's draw games:

All times are Eastern. Each game page shows recent draws and prize breakdowns where the data includes them, and the full history of each game can be downloaded as a CSV from our open data page without an account.

Two Virginia games aren't covered here. Keno draws every four minutes and is best checked on valottery.com or in the app. Millionaire for Life, the multi-state game that replaced Cash4Life in February 2026, isn't in our results feed yet; check it on valottery.com too.

Our numbers come from an automated results service that we poll every two minutes, so they usually appear shortly after a drawing. They aren't checked by hand against the Lottery's site, which is another reason to treat valottery.com as the final word. How to check US lottery results covers the general options for other states.

Do Virginia TV stations and newspapers post lottery results?

Some local TV stations and newspapers carry lottery numbers, typically in a newscast segment or a daily results listing. These are convenient but come later than the Lottery's own site and app, and usually without prize-tier details. If a printed or broadcast number makes you think you've won, check the ticket against valottery.com or have it scanned.

How fast does each source update?

The Virginia Lottery's site and app are the first place results appear after a drawing. Results sites that take a data feed, like ours, generally follow within minutes. Broadcast and print follow on their own schedules. If you need to know for sure whether a ticket won, the quickest reliable route is scanning it in the app or at a retailer. How lottery numbers are drawn explains how drawings are conducted; Virginia's CASH POP, for one, uses a certified random number generator.

How do you verify and claim a winning Virginia ticket?

Check anywhere you like, but confirm with the Virginia Lottery before acting. Then follow its claim rules:

  • Draw-game tickets expire 180 days after the drawing (see claim deadlines by state).
  • Retailers may cash prizes of $600 or less.
  • Prizes up to $5,000 can be claimed in the Virginia Lottery app.
  • Larger prizes are claimed at a Virginia Lottery customer service center.
  • On prizes over $5,000, the Lottery withholds 24% federal and 4% Virginia tax.

The step-by-step claim guide covers what to bring. If you use the Lottery's online account features, our valottery.com login guide explains them.
